Particularly as Jaiku, which I loved, seemed to go dark, and I *think* stopped allowing new sign ups, pretty much after Google bought it/them.
Twitter is great because it does one thing and one thing only. But it has been unreliable for a while.
And in many respects Twitter is limited for me.
Why?
Because it does one thing, and one thing only. (Now where have I heard that before?)
I like the way that friendfeed allows me to keep tabs on all my friends and acquaintances on one streaming, updating, ever-changing page. (And because of the brilliant 'imaginary' feature, my friends don't even have to subscribe to friendfeed for me to keep up with them.)
It took me a little bit of getting round it's features and tools, but once I'd spent some time with it, I soon got the hang of things.
It features all the characters that have appeared in the great and not so great virals of recent times. (See how many you can identify; Chocolate Rain, The Beauty Queen, Britney fan, Mentos, etc, etc etc, are all there.)
I think it's wonderful, as do over 6 million people who have downloaded it.
If you were already aware of it, and it's old news to you, my apologies.
Mmm, I must be getting old. (Oh, actually, I AM old.) Time for my medication.
ps. For some reason it's embed disabled so the links above are through directly to YouTube.
It demonstrates some thoughts they have about the Firefox browser for mobile.
I lurve my iPhone and after Monday's WWDC announcement, and O2's recent iPhone info, I suspect we'll have iPod like consumer uptake over the next year or so. Of course we'll also see a gazillion full-screen emulations/rip-offs from other mobile phone companies getting in on the GUI act.
A good thing.
What's more, with the release of the SDK for iPhone and app sales handled through the iTunes store, it looks like a lot of potential overtime is in the offing for all you web and app developers out there. With over 3 billion mobiles in the world there's a heck of a market to be had, dwarfing desktop and laptop use, and indeed with the portability of mobile; usability.
