The Art of Oratory:

A lovely spot on Radio 4's Today programme this morn about the skill of speech-making.

MP George Galloway, Richard Ingrams & Brian MacArthur, author of the Penguin Book of Great 20th Century speeches, discussed what makes a good speech, and indeed a good speaker. It was full of great tips, bitchy insights and stellar examples.

I'm admittedly stretching a point, but I think much of what they say has application to how we operate professionally in our social media world.

Be it writing a blog post, a tweet, and of course presenting to clients, which is the nearest I guess we/I get to oratory.

The point was made that perhaps great speeches are an increasing rarity today, in the era of the sound-bite.

And just wondered if the same can be said of killer blog posts in the era of the tweet.

Anyhow, cracking six minutes of Radio 4 at it's best.
